Acoustics – Determination of noise exposure from civilian UAS – Part 1: Calculation method

Abstract

This document establishes a procedure for the calculation of noise emissions resulting from the operation of civilian UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) and thus provides the foundation for the assessment of civilian UAS. As a result, the calculation method described in this document delivers acoustic parameters for any location near one or more flight paths of one or more UAS. This document does not specify assessment procedures or make determinations for the evaluation of flight noise emissions from UAS. This document is applicable to electrically powered civilian UAS with a maximum take-off mass of up to 25 kg (in the form of a multicopter). This document is not applicable to military UAS, model aircraft, or airships.
