Test methods for the determination of bond strength of impregnating agents to an enameled wire substrate

Abstract

This standard describes three test methods for determining the caking resistance of impregnating agents such as solvent-based impregnating varnishes and solvent-free resins on an enameled wire substrate. The caking resistance can depend on the hardening, the test temperature, thermal aging and, given the impregnating agent, on the type of enameled wire selected. These three test methods capture the generally valid state of the art with regard to testing caking resistance. For a specific group of materials, one of these test methods can be specified as a reference method in accordance with a requirement in the relevant requirement sheet.
