Abstract

This DIN SPEC in accordance with the PAS procedure has been drawn up by a DIN-SPEC-consortium set up on a temporary basis. This DIN SPEC has been developed and approved by the authors named in the foreword. This document specifies requirements for a network interface between quantum computing software frameworks or quantum programming languages and quantum computing backends. This document defines the necessary structure for communication between user-side software frameworks and service provider backends. This document specifies the essential information that needs to be exchanged between the software frameworks and backends, along with the methods of transfer to facilitate efficient operations. This document concentrates on gate-based quantum computing, ensuring that the interface is not tied to any specific backend technology. Other principles like adiabatic quantum computing are not considered in this document. This document serves as a foundational guideline for developers and service providers in the quantum computing ecosystem.
