Component Cleaning and Technical Cleanliness – Part 1: Method for the preparation of a cleanliness specification

Abstract

This document specifies a method for deriving and preparing a cleanliness specification for components along the process chain. It has been developed for metallic components; however, the described procedure is also applicable to components made of other materials as well as assemblies. This document is primarily intended for planners, quality managers, and production managers in industrial manufacturing processes of metallic components. While this document explains the derivation of limit values, it does not specify limits for individual contaminants or contamination classes within or at the end of the process chain.
