Calculation of load capacity of cylindrical gears — Part 17: Determination of the slow speed wear carrying capacity of lubricants using FZG-test-method VT-C/0,05:0,05:0,57/90:120:90/12
Abstract
This document describes the current status of the low-speed wear test developed as part of DGMK Research Project No. 377-01 and further developed in DGMK/FVA Research Project No. 799/No. 867. The wear test VT-C/0.05:0.05:0.57/90:120:90/12 can be used to quantitatively determine the influence of lubricants and their lubricant additives on gear wear for a wide range of applications, e.g. vehicle, industrial, wind power and marine gearboxes. The wear test differentiates between lubricants in terms of their wear behaviour and, in combination with suitable calculation methods, enables the selection of a lubricant with sufficient load-carrying capacity for a desired wear service life or slow speed wear carrying capacity.
