Fire behaviour of building materials and building components - Part 17: Melting point of mineral wool insulating materials - Terms and definitions, requirements and test
Brandverhalten von Baustoffen und Bauteilen - Teil 17: Schmelzpunkt von Mineralwolle-Dämmstoffen - Begriffe, Anforderungen und Prüfung
Overview
This standard applies to the determination whether mineral fibre insulating materials in building components have sufficient resistance when exposed to fire at temperatures of at least 1 000 °C. This standard does not apply to the testing of mineral fibre insulating materials under continuous thermal loading , e.g. to determine the maximum service temperature range as in DIN EN 14706. If the mineral fibre insulating materials meet the requirements specified here, then that is considered as proof of their melting point being at least 1 000 °C. The test apparatus shall be carried out using the small-scale test furnace as in DIN 4102-8. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 005-52-01 AA "Brandverhalten von Baustoffen und Bauteilen - Baustoffe" ("Fire behaviour of building materials and building components - Building materials") of DIN Standards Committee Building and Civil Engineering (NABau) and replaces DIN 4102-17:1990-12.
