Overview

The document IEC 61010-2-202 is Part 2-202 of a planned series of standards for devices for industrial measurement, control and automation technology. The definitions of general safety terms are set out in IEC 61010-1. Specific terms are defined in the respective part. This part contains the safety requirements for electrically operated valves and actuators. This part 2-202 of the International IEC 61010 series of standards specifies the safety requirements for electric actuators and solenoids used with valves that are intended for use in industrial processes and in stand-alone automation environments. This part of IEC 61010 specifies: - particular safety requirements for general purpose electrically operated valve electric actuators and solenoids, - related verification tests. The general purpose electrically operated valve actuators and solenoids, covered by this part are limited to: - those rated 600 V AC/ 840 V DC or less. Service personnel interface to equipment included in the scope of this document. This standard excludes: - electric actuators and solenoids intended for use in explosive atmospheres according to the IEC 60079 series of standards; - mechanical aspects of valves; - actuators and solenoids providing a safety function covered by the IEC 61508 series of standards; - positioners. A list of all parts of the IEC 61010 series of International Standards under the general title "Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use" can be found on the IEC website. This Part 2-202 (IEC 61010-2-202) of the IEC 61010 series of standards shall be used in conjunction with the latest edition of IEC 61010-1. The present IEC 61010-2-202 has been prepared on the basis of the third edition (2010) of IEC 61010-1, including its Amendment A1 (2016). This Part 2-202 supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses of IEC 61010-1, whereby this standard is transferred to IEC 61010-2-202 "Particular requirements for electrically operated valve actuators". If a particular subclause of Part 1 is not mentioned in this Part 2, then that subclauses applies as far as it is reasonably applicable. Where "addition", "modification", "replacement" or "deletion" is specified in this Part, the affected requirements, test conditions or notes of Part 1 shall be modified accordingly. The responsible committee is DKE/K 913 "Sicherheitsanforderungen an typische Geräte, Einrichtungen und Systeme für Labor und Unterricht" ("Safety requirements for typical apparatus, equipment and systems for laboratory and teaching purposes") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
