Electric signalling systems for railways - Part 200: Safe transmission protocol according to DIN EN 50159 (VDE 0831-159)
Abstract
This document applies to safety-related electrical, electronic, and programmable electronic systems (E/E/PES including subsystems and equipment) for railway signal applications. This document specifies a communication protocol which ensures safe data transmission in accordance with DIN EN 50159 (VDE 0831 159). This prestandard specifies, as measures to increase availability, the use of a retransmission mechanism and the coordinated use of several transmission paths. This document does not purport a specific implementation, instead it provides a specification with descriptions of the message formats, the state transitions required by protocol, and the abstract functions to be used. The special interfaces with the application and with the underlying transport layer are explicitly not provided, because they depend on the implementation. At present, no regional or International Standards exist for the scope of this document.
